The article focuses on several books related to taxation. These books are "Taxation and Welfare," by Harvey Whitefield Peck, "Public Finance," by Harley L. Lutz, "The Economics of Taxation," and "The Taxation of Unearned Incomes," by Harry Gunnison Brown. The flood of tax books continues unabated. The taxes should be as high as is required for the best division possible, from the standpoint of welfare, between public and private spending. Recent British studies suggest more public, as opposed to private, expenditure. Taxes, generally speaking, ought to rise, and ought, in the general interest, to be paid increasingly by the rich.
