In the 1922 elections to Parliament not a single Polish deputy was returned from the district of Volhynia, Ukraine. Since this election the attempt to Polonize the province has been intensified. The methods used are shown in the trial and imprisonment of the Ukrainian deputies. The accused were allowed counsel, but before the end of the trial counsel for the accused withdrew alleging that it was impossible to give their clients proper protection because of the unfair attitude of the court. Witnesses testified that Polish officials are thieves and so are the police that is plundering the Ukrainian population.
