The article presents information about the book "Robert E. Lee, the Soldier," by Frederick Maurice. It is a remarkable volume, not only for its conciseness but also for its admirable style, its clearness, its extraordinary tearing away of technical details in order to present the narrative of military events in such a way that the lay reader can follow with ease. What lends still greater interest to it is the fact that General Maurice has applied to Commander in Chief Robert E. Lee's career the new measuring stick afforded by the military experiences of the World War.
