This article focuses on a report of the U.S.-based American Civil Liberties Union. The report describes various incidents of civil liberty violations in various states of the U.S. In Sidney Townes, Mississippi, a wounded insane African-American was held for murder and was taken from Sheriff Front on August 12, 1925 by a mob of 100 men and lynched. Meanwhile, in Missouri, Miller Mitchell, an African American, was taken from the city jail on August 7, 1925 by a mob of 500 men and lynched. He was charged with assault upon a white woman.
