In spite of the tumult and the shouting the theater season is, so far, an uninteresting one. The theater industry is at its very height and there are just two plays in which the mind can take solid satisfaction -"Windows" and "Tarnish." The visit to these shores of famous players or famous organizations of players does not, after all, furnish one with that ultimate satisfaction which the theater has to offer-a fresh or vigorous or beautiful projection of some part of that natural and inherent struggle and crisis which is the essence "of man, of nature, and of human life."
