Coming Scandals in France

France seems likely before long to have a crop of political scandals in which certain reputations, already tarnished, may be finally destroyed. The two men whose reputations are particularly at stake are statesmen Raymond Poincaré and Georges Clemenceau, but others are involved with them. The amnesty of statesmen Joseph Caillaux and Louis Malvy, which has restored them to political life, does not mean that the last has been heard of the proceedings that led to their conviction. It is doubtful whether there is any legal means of revising a judgment of the Senate sitting as High court, before which they were both tried, but it is always possible to hold an inquiry into the circumstances that led to their prosecution and subsequent conviction.
