The article presents some books containing short stories. Some of these books include "Prize Stories of 1924," with an introduction by Blanche Colton Williams, " Prize Stories of 1923," "Centerville, U.S.A.," by Charles Merz, "Flying Osip," edited with an introduction by Alexander Chramoff, "Subsoil," by George Hummel, "Little Novels of Sicily," by Giovanni Verga and translated by D.H. Lawrence and "Five Tales," by Emile Verhaeren and translated by Keene Wallis. These anthologies and collections may be said to be representative of the short story as it is written the world over, yet in no way do they indicate intent on the part of the authors to use the short story in a particular manner or with a peculiar mission.
