This article focuses on the book "Canada and the United States," by Hugh L. Keenleyside. Canada, long barely remembered in the U.S., is at last being recognized as having an individuality of its own and especially as the chief commercial customer of the republic. This book is a competent piece of work. The book is based on a wide examination of both printed and manuscript material and the many footnotes are an adequate guide to sources. Keenleyside describes in adequate detail the grounds of difference between these two countries since 1812, frontier incidents during the Canadian rebellion of 1837 and the dispute over the Maine and Oregon boundaries.
