This article literally appraises the book "The English King," by Michael Macflonagh. This book bears a strong resemblance in object and character to Mr. MacDonald's "Pageant of Parliament," published a few years ago. In each work the author undertakes to depict a great and venerable institution as it exists and functions in the present democratic era, and in each lie approaches his subject on its human side rather than by way of its historical evolution Both are based on considerable measure upon knowledge gained from personal observation during a long career in journalism.
