The article provides information on the book "What the Farmers Needs," by Isaac Lippincott. Lippincott, who is a professor at the Washington University, Saint Louis, has attempted to analyze the causes of agricultural difficulty and to prescribe remedies. He does not believe that lack of good marketing facilities is the main thing wrong with farming. Lippincott's remedy for the difficulties that he discusses is equally sound. It involves the adoption of the financial and production policies of progressive manufacturers, such as the building up of a reserve to stand the shock of dull times, the diversification of products, and the of waste materials.
