This article focuses on several books. Some of them are as follows: "What Is Socialism?," by Jessie Wallace Hughan. This little book is commended to Herbert Hoover and to all others who ought to know what socialism is but don't. Hughan has summarized in lucid fashion the Socialist case against capitalism and the remedies which the Socialists propose. "Mortal Man," by Burnham Carter. This book is typical of the pleasant inconsequential entertainment that is offered by the general run of contemporary American novels. Wise, witty, and modern-minded, Carter's fictional excursus on the sons of the wealthy seldom rises above readability. He manages his characters with professional skill.
