This article presents information about the book "War," by Ludwig Renn and translated by Willa Muir and Edwin Muir. The book is a simple, sincere and candid narrative of the experience at the front of a German N.C.O. of infantry. It is offered by the publishers as non-fiction though it reads like fiction. Renn's descriptions of actual combat and of the front are truer, more real and accurate. As a transcript of war, Renn's book has great value. The translation by Willa and Edwin Muir is excellent, far better than that of the book "All Quiet on the Western Front."
