The article presents information on various developments from around the world with an emphasis on trials in the U.S. In the murder case scheduled for trial at Gastonia, North Carolina, fifteen men and women will be brought before a grand jury, indictments will be asked for the murder of Chief of Police O.F. Aderholt, and presumably the trial will take place immediately. This case is not only one of the most important in American labor history, but it is exceedingly likely to lead to a miscarriage of justice. The danger of arbitrary and unreasonable interference with the freedom of the press through punishment for contempt of court is illustrated afresh in the conviction of Louis B. Seltzer, editor, and Canton K. Matson, chief editorial writer, of the Cleveland Press. The sheriff was about to proceed against a Cleveland, Ohio race track for permitting betting in violation of the law when an injunction was sought.
