The Supreme Court has decided that politician Harry F. Sinclair must go to jail for three months for contempt of the United States Senate. That is extremely good news, not, as readers of the journal "The Nation," are aware, because they place any value upon the reformatory worth of a prison sentence. There is something amusing in the deadlock between the government and the great oil companies over a national agreement to limit oil production. The companies want limitation, the government wants it, and most of the people want it, but nobody dares to accomplish it because they have a philosophy of government, which is called tugged individualism, and a statute based upon that philosophy which is called the Sherman anti-trust act.
