This article presents information on the political developments which have been initiated by the election of Herbert Hoover as the President of the U.S. The first big push since the election of Herbert Hoover has come in the power and light industry, whose shares advanced more than half as much in January as in the whole of 1928. Ostensibly a publicly supervised industry, in which commissions limit income to 8 per cent on the property investment, public-utility shares have shown more fantastic advances than uncontrolled industrial stocks.
