At the neck of the Adriatic lies Albania. This is a bedraggled kingdom of 850,000 primitive people than in all the rest of Europe. Ambitious young Mohammedan, Ahmed Zogu, has had himself declared king. It is no exaggeration to say that, ever since the first Treaty of Tirana in November, 1926, Zogu has been little more than a handsome puppet-President-and now puppet King-from whose coattails a mesh of cords run across the neck of the Mussolini- coveted Adriatic and on to Rome. Albania today has a so-called government and a so-called king in Tirana.
