This article literally appraises the book "Desert Drums," by Leo Crane. "Desert Drums" is a splendid picture of the New Mexican Pueblos, a picture painted skillfully upon the background of almost four centuries of history. The early Spanish conquistadors, the Franciscan padres, the colonists from Old Mexico, the American occupation since 1849 provide a colorful and striking setting for a story of the Pueblos of today.
