This article presents information on political conditions in the U.S. during 1927. The absence of outstandingly first-rate men among those most mentioned for the Presidency seems a striking evidence of the humbug which the U.S. participation in the First World War was. Not a single one of those whose names are suggested for the Presidency rose out of the war or gained prestige from it. The war achieved no immortal music, no national hymn, no glorious bit of literature, and no statesman. Dwight Morrow, partner in J.P. Morgan & Co., has been named the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico. Morrow happens to be a college classmate and lifelong friend of U.S. President Calvin Coolidge. The article also talks about the repeal of federal estate tax.
