The article presents information about various theatrical productions. No first-rate novel ever made an equally good play. The very qualities' which made it great as a novel render impossible the task of compressing it within the narrow limits of the stage, for the stage demands a compacter action and a more summary characterization. To this general rule there is, no single exception, and though the dramatization which dramatists Jaques Copeau and Jean Croué made from "The Brothers Karamazov" is probably as fine as any possible one, it is no adequate substitute for the great and turbulent novel from which it is taken. "In Abraham's Bosom" is the first full-length play by the young Southerner dramatist Paul Green, whose short pieces have won much praise. It is full of rich material and it is acted by a company, composed for the most part of Negroes, with the wholehearted conviction characteristic of the race.
