The article throws light on the death of George Brennan, the U.S. dictator. As the successor of Roger Sullivan when that dictator died in 1920, Brennan was rather an easy boss, content often to sit back and watch his Republican antagonists wrangle and disgrace themselves. In 1926 Brennan astounded everybody by running for the U.S. Senator, in order, he said, to attack the Volstead Law in Congress. Severely injured in the course of the campaign, he was defeated and went back to a task he loved-preparing the way for the nomination of Al Smith for -the Presidency.
