The article discusses several books, "Farewell to Paradise," by Frank Thiess, "The Galaxy," by Susan Ertz, "A Night Among the Horses," by Djuna Barnes. Thiess' book, slight idyll of adolescent love, set in a dull middle class summer-resort hotel with a backdrop of German countryside, is told with an unadorned directness which gives it at least a certain sincerity and reality. Barnes' book, although worthy of attention because the author has embraced the worthy ideals of a serious clique, is intrinsically a failure because it contains practically all of the faults and few of the qualities of this group's work.
