In the Driftway

At last the Drifter has reached eminence. He is unique; he is one among a million. Probably he always has been one among a million, but it would have been hard to say which one. The Drifter seems to be the only person in the United States who did not lose a fortune in the late unpleasantness in Wall Street. At least so he gathers from the talk that is going round. Everybody else has been hit hard and is looking forward to a chilly winter. Even the diamond trade in Antwerp, Belgium, has hit the rocks while European hotelkeepers who formerly lived by bleeding American tourists are expecting to do a little bleeding themselves.
