The article presents the impression of the author on the city Moscow, Soviet Union. The first impressions are utterly disappointing. The city is shabby, down at the heel and badly paved. Gradually, however, the visitor begins to feel the charm of which foreign residents speak. When he returns to it the third time he finds himself moved and impressed. The Oriental in its architecture stirs him; the skyline appears as one of the most impressive and beautiful sights in the world; the Red Square, with that amazing Cathedral of Saint Basil, has a power and an originality not to be denied.
