This article literally appraises the book "Stendhal," by Paul Hazard. The book is translated from French by Eleanor Hard. In the present eminently readable volume the author has attempted to get around the difficulty by adopting a highly impressionistic manner. He is a "new biographer" whose chief aim is entertainment, and he has not only omitted most dates and all reference to the sources from which he draws, but has omitted most of the connecting links between incidents as well. In this book he has given described about the life of French essayist and novelist Marie Henri Beyle whose pseudonym is Stendhal.
