The article presents information from around the world with an emphasis on U.S. politics and government. In Virginia the effort to hold the State in the Republican column ended disastrously. There may come a time when Virginia will really take its place among those American States in which there is honest bipartisanship, but it will surely not do so under the lead of this apostolic stock gambler. For two recent speeches governor Franklin D. Roosevelt of New York deserves warm thanks. Speaking on the Sunday before Armistice Day, at the foreign military ceremony known as the massing of the colors which has lately been adopted by some super-patriots in this country, he refused to devote his address to extolling only the militaristic virtues. Instead he called upon his hearers not to fight more battles in the field of arms but to devote themselves to warring against the evil forces of greed and of materialism.
