This article literally appraises several books related to true history of railroads in war time. The books are: "War History of American Railroads," by Walker D. Hines; "Railroad Regulation Since 1920," by D. Philip Locklin; and "Government Ownership and Operation of Railroads," by Walter M.W. Splawn. The facts of our war-time control of railroads, though known by students, have been buried from view of the general public beneath mountains of misinformation.
