This article presents information on treaties regarding international naval strength. Naval airplane demonstrations occurred on the same day that Chairman of the, House Naval Committee introduced the bill to authorize, prior to July 1, 1936, the construction of 240,200 tons of new naval vessels. The purpose, of course, is "to give the United States parity with Great Britain." The committee estimates that the new construction will call for an outlay of U.S. $498,900,000 by 1940, which, added to requirements for authorizations already made, will make a total U.S. $937,000,000.
