This article focuses on the struggle of Czechoslovakia for the improvement of its economic condition. Czechoslovakia has 95 percent of the industry and 5 percent of the agriculture. The, industry was much too extensive for a population of 15,000,000, and the home market could not absorb its products. Nearly all the textile industry was in Czechoslovakia. For the purpose of increasing the home market and satisfying the demands of the peasants it was necessary not only to break up the great estates but also to repopulate the agricultural districts. The greater part of the agricultural land had been in the hands of the church and the aristocracy, and had been to a great extent depopulated.
