The article presents three books on war. These are "Storm of Steel," by Ernst Jü nger, translated by Basil Creighton and introduction by R.H. Mottram; "Class of 1902," by Ernst Galesar and translated by Willa and Edwin Muir, and "Schlump. The Story of a German Soldier Told By Himself," translated by Maurice Samuel. "Storm of Steel," is a diary-like narrative of a former German officer of infantry who was glad to fight for his fatherland. The book deals almost entirely with action at or near the front.
