The article reports that Harvard University at Cambridge, Massachusetts, has discharged twenty cleaning women from Widener Library without advance notice or pay and without giving them any reason. These women had been in the employ of the university for periods ranging from thirty-three years to two. Harvard University is a vast business corporation employing hundreds of wage earners, excluding faculty members. In this particular case the women have been working since February 1, 1921, as employees of Harvard University at wages lower than those prescribed by the minimum-wage decree. Each year state inspectors have complained, but the complaints have been ignored.
