This article presents information on the nation-wide Communist demonstration of Thursday, March 6, 1930 in the U.S. which passed off, on the whole, extremely well. Special honors go to the Mayor of San Francisco and to the Police Commissioner of Baltimore. Both of them were politeness itself, permitted the Communists to march, and protected the parades; all rioting was avoided, and the populace remained good-humored and even amused. In New York 40,000 persons attended a completely orderly and good-natured assemblage in Union Square which was turned into a nasty row when the police attempted-successfully-to clear the streets in a quarter of an hour.
