This article presents information on the book "A Vaquero of the Brush Country" by J. Frank Dobie. This book is about a veteran cattleman named John Young. Young tells the story of his life, and Dobie with a practiced hand, puts it into form. It is a story of the Texas cattle country from the days of the open range to the days of barbed-wire inclosures, and it brings in adventures with Indians, cattle thieves, horse thieves, and all round bad men. It is, however, something more than a biography, for into the personal reminiscence has been skillfully woven a historical sketch of the period, with much description and other informative material.
