This article presents the author's views on the progressive Senators in Washington. On most questions that have come before the senator is that since he is conscious not merely that he is thought to be the representative not only of the State, but that had a duty to the public as a whole. Yet he is defending himself on the ground that there are tremendous areas in the Western part of the United States available for raising sugar beets, that the sugar growers of the are "in dire distress," and that "the industry is almost ruined." He also promised the farmers and beet-sugar growers that if he is reelected, and the high-tariff bill should be presented, he would vote for high tariffs on products of his State even though he is opposed on principle to them.
