This article presents the author's account of their experiences on the issue of divorce. The author have been divorced for only a year. For that reason his conclusions as to the benefits or injuries of divorce must be regarded as merely tentative. The authors marriage had a formal duration of six years, but during its last two years the arrangement was one of separation by mutual consent. The author's conclusion is that the past twelve months of divorce have been a period of far more calm and happiness for his ex-wife, their one child, and himself than those twenty-four months of separation that preceded the divorce. He attributes the comparative peacefulness of the past year not to the fact that his wife and he were divorced, but to the fact that they got a divorce with arbitration.
