The article discusses U.S. public appointments. In appointing Judge John J. Parker of North Carolina, to the Supreme Court of the United States, U.S. President Herbert Hoover has plainly had political and sectional rather than judicial considerations in mind. Born in 1885, Judge Parker is one of the youngest men ever appointed to the Supreme Bench. A North Carolinian by birth and education, at the age of twenty-four, he was Re- publican nominee for Congress from the seventh district of North Carolina.
