A curious change has come over Hollywood within the space of a single year. Last winter when the film producers decided to take a plunge in the production of talking pictures, Hollywood was all in a state of turmoil as it peered anxiously into the future and made frantic efforts to adjust itself to the new conditions. Today, to judge by its recent films, it must be again enjoying the comfortable feeling of restored stability, in fact, of being back where it was before all this rumpus began. There is indeed something almost uncanny in the ease with which the new medium has been turned to the old uses and the whole industry placed back on its accustomed rails.
