Boulder Dam is monstrous, shocking, incredible--and true. The facts about that long struggle are well known. Arrayed on one side were the States and cities which wanted Boulder Dam built in order that they might have flood protection and cheap power. Arrayed on the other side were the Southern California Edison and associated companies which opposed the project because it would either deprive them of business or compel them to reduce rates, or both. Notwithstanding the strenuous and sometimes unscrupulous tactics employed by the power companies, the States and municipalities won.
