The article presents discussions on various books. The books are: "The Kramer Girls," by Ruth Suckow, "The Excursion to Tilsit," by Hermann Sudermann and translated by Lewis Galantière, "The Hoax," by Italo Svevo and "The Trough of the Wave" by Olaf Duun and translated by Arthur G. Chater. "The Trough of the Wave" is the first volume of a six-volume translation of Duun's Norwegian saga of a family of peasant freeholders. The tale opens on an epic note with its recital of the traditional lore of the Juvikings of olden time, goes on to tell of Per Anders, the last of the "old men," and then takes up the story of his two Sons, Jent and Per, who bring the family fortunes down with them into the trough of the wave.
