A new battle on evolution is raging in the South. This time, however, the issue is not religious but economic; it has to do with the theory of the economics of distribution. The battle, which is being waged on many fronts, is between the small retailer, taking the fundamentalist position, against the chain store, an exponent of modernism in distribution. The thing, however has been a long time in coming and can be traced back to the vast economic revolution that began in this country ten or fifteen years ago.
