The article discusses about a cooperative divorce of narrator and her former husband. Narrator's husband, who was a sculptor, had not been able to do much toward our mutual support, but his family was very well off and had helped them by means of a regular allowance. It was agreed, when the matter of details of divorce arose, that narrator's husband should give her and her son a large part of the allowance which his family had been contributing to their support. Shortly after their divorce their son contracted a contagious disease which resulted in certain permanent disabilities. The family rose to this occasion with additional funds.
