It Seems to Heywood Broun

Broun, Heywood | March 5, 1930 issue

The article presents an incident of author, when he was going in the direction of Diana's Cove and a dog followed him. The dog was a stranger to him, but he seemed amiable and well intentioned. The author spoke to him about going back to wherever he came from and he wagged knowingly and continued to follow after. The author never saw a dog with poorer conception of the precise meaning of words. He had practically no vocabulary. To him "Get the hell out of here" sounded just same as "Nice Dog." He shook with joy each time commanded to be gone.
