The article focuses on various political and social issues of the world. The U.S. senate has disgraced itself by voting for the pension bill to "liberalize the law" for compensation for disabled World War veterans. The U.S. President Herbert Hoover's objection to it and announcement that he will veto it merely served to inflame the Senate. Newmark has been suffering for five months from an epidemic of alien and Communist persecution, and during June three of ten Communists indicated have been convicted of advocating the overthrow of the government by force and violence.
