This article presents information on the autobiography "My Life," by author Leon Trotzky. His story is far more fascinating than a detective, mystery plot and it has the added merit of being true. He began life in a peasant's mud hut; he leads us through prisons, exiles, escapes-all the drama of revolutionary struggle. The fight for power is brilliantly described. Then follow the peace negotiations, the fight against world military forces, with the climax of Lenin's death, growing opposition within the Communist Party, exile and deportation. Naturally, Trotzky weaves into the picture a defense of his own position in it all one can clearly see Lenin's estimate of his one outstanding defect, "an excess of self-confidence."
