In Washington, with the old year closing and a portentous new one about to begin, four conferences of youth took place in a single week. It refers to the annual conventions of the National Student Federation, the League for Industrial Democracy, the National Student League and the first attempt to bring all these youth organizations, as well as unattached groups, together in a "united front"--the National Conference of Students in Politics. The last originated with the so-called Clearing Board of Youth Associations, made up of the leaders of the principal youth organizations. The National Student Federation was included in this group, but although its president was the first to propose a joint conference, its representatives withdrew early in the deliberations because they felt the program was taking on a too radical tinge.
