This article presents information on Patrick Kearney's play "Old Man Murphy," which is being screened at Royale Theater. Judging by the reception it has got, the author opines that he won't be surprised if the play runs for a year or two. The play directed by Wagstaff Gribble and jointly scripted by Patrick Kearney and Gribble has found a comic region lying halfway between Lady Gregory and Ann Nichols, and this appears to be a region of great promise. Another play titled "Abie's Irish Rose," presents a story that is chiefly about an Irish-American family who have tried to conceal their origin in order to get on in the society of a Middle Western city, and the fun is extracted from situations which expose them to both the ridicule and scorn of those of their countrymen who have remained faithful.
