This article presents information related to several newly published books. In the book "Artifex," its author Richard Aldington calls the short pieces which compose this volume articles and not essays, "because the essay is only an article in a high hat" others will prefer to call them sketches and not articles because the article is only a sketch in a crushed fedora. The book "Jesus Manifest," by Dmitri Merejkowski, earned and merited the praise of many critics. The effort is less happy. A poetic embellishment of the simple gospel narratives is a difficult task at best. Merejkowski does not solve the difficulty. Sometimes his elaborations are distractions beside the quite sufficient though austerely simple narratives.
