The eastern floods, which held up train movements over a wide area, have compelled us to print part of this weeks issue of the journal The Nation on other than the regular paper stock. This is, of course, only a trifling item in the confusion and damage which the floods wrought. The press has described the picture of houses and bridges destroyed and whole areas devastated, and the terror, disease, and death the rivers in their relentless course have dealt out. A relative decline in the portion of the national income accruing to the working class is normal during a period of expanding business activity.
