The article presents information related to various books. "Redder Than the Rose," by Robert Forsythe, has a strong reference to the wearily sophisticated background of middle-class culture. The book includes little essays on current American asininities, which according to the author are by and for someone who has been until quite recently taken in by them. "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" by Horace McCoy is an unpretentious novel of the hard-boiled school tells of a dance marathon and a mercy murder that marked its close.
