The article focuses on the book entitled "Dwell in the Wilderness," by Alvah C. Bessie. According to the author this family novel of the Middle West has its end and its beginning in the marriage ceremony performed in 1888 over Eben Isaac Morris, young proprietor of a drygoods emporium, and Amelia Millard, a clergyman's daughter. In many instances the characters, tastes, and careers of the four children are in no way predicated upon the marriage of their parents, with the result that they seem irrational, and the novel comes to remind one of a rambling family history, spirited but pointless.
