The article focuses on the book "With Napoleon in Russia. The Memoirs of General de Caulaincourt, Duke of Vicenza," From the Original Memoirs as edited by Jean Hanoteau. "Memoirs" are indeed the most important discovery of Napoleana in the time and, the author hasten to add, a most engrossing and fascinating discovery as well. In author George Libaire's excellently edited volume, though it contains only the central portion of the complete French edition of three volumes, which covers the years from 1808 to 1814, one has without doubt the most interesting and the most dramatic parts. For the strange history of Caulaincourt's manuscript and its- publication more than a century after the death of its author, commend the reader to the editor's useful introduction.
